I want to start this Mid Week Faith Booster dealing with a scripture which I'm sure will show you that God can be trusted. It's the middle verse of the entire Bible and I believe the hand of our Father God specifically placed it there!
The Bible is actually a library of 66 books containing 1189 chapters, written by 44 authors over a period of some 1,500 years.
This verse is exact in the middle of the whole Bible. On the left side of this scripture is Psalm 117, the shortest chapter in the Bible, and on the right side is Psalm 119, the longest chapter in the Bible. Just take a look at what this middle of the Bible verse says!!
Psalm 118:8 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
Paul affirms it in 2 Cor 1:20 For all the promises of God in Him are YES, and in Him AMEN, to the glory of God through us.
Have you ever noticed that before? ALL of the promises given to us by our Father in Heaven are backed up by a big "YES!" and then further by a big "AMEN!" (so be it).
Praise God that's very good news for all of us! The exact number of promises I can't tell, but I have read several accounts ranging from 3,000 to 5,467 to 8,000, [you could do a study when you have a few months and add them up!]
However, there are literally thousands of promises given to us as God's children in the Bible that cover every possible area of our life, our health, our finances, our marriage, our family and even our ministry, if you are involved in that.
It's possible for us as believers to walk in complete victory in this life every day if we can take God at His Word.
There is one BIG difference between a promise given by God and a promise given by a man. Many men [and women] have been known to break their promises, and I've experienced that on a number of occasions, especially since being in ministry, often promises of support for the ministry never eventuated. But the great Creator God has never broken one - and He never will! God is a promise keeper. Every promise He has ever given to anyone He is obligated to keep, otherwise the whole Bible would fall into disrepute. But it can't happen because He is faithful and true.
1 Kings 8:56 Blessed be the Lord who has given rest to His people Israel, according to ALL that He promised. There has NOT failed one word of all His good promise, which He promised through His servant Moses.
We serve a God who is full of integrity and can be trusted to keep His Word. He does not lie, so therefore He will not break His promises. Many people have been known to break their promises - however not God.
Hebrews 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.
Romans 3:3-4a For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar.
We receive the promises of God in our lives when we place our faith in the One who promised, and not in people. So many people at one time or another have been disappointed in life because the people they trusted, let them down by breaking promises.
This happens by placing too high an expectation on the word of people, when we should have been placing our expectations on God's Word. God can be trusted to keep all His promises.
What God says about us is true.
What God promises we can do - we can do because He says we can.
What God promises we can have - we can have because He said we could have it!
All God has promised to us, as His children will certainly come to pass in our lifetime, if we will simply put our faith and trust in Him to bring it to pass.
I know for some of you this is very basic faith information I am presenting today, but you must admit that the majority of the Church across the world have a long way to go before they inherit all of God's promises in their life.
