God promised the promised land to the Children of Israel, and it was Joshua led them into it after Moses died. However, SEVEN of the tribes of Israel had done NOTHING to possess it.
In Joshua 18:1-3 it says; And the whole congregation of the Children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.
2 And there remained among the Children of Israel seven tribes, which had not received their inheritance.
3 And Joshua said to the Children of Israel, "How long are ye slack to go to possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?"
Please understand me today. Just because we know our destiny and know what God has promised to us, that doesn't mean we have already possessed it ALL.
Many of us Christians can quote God's Word, and know the promises of God, but still struggle financially and sometimes strive to fight off sickness in our bodies.
Many never seem to come to a fullness of actually possessing all that God has promised, even though they know about it.
Saul could have been one of Israel's greatest kings, but instead David took his place. At the end of his life Saul said in 1 Samuel 26:21 Then said Saul, "I have sinned, return, my son David for I will no more do thee harm, because my soul was precious in thine eyes this day; behold I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly."
Paul the Apostle said at the end of his life in 2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought well. I have finished the race, and I have been faithful."
Our DESTINY is determined by our DECISIONS! So we must seek God and consult His Word before making any decisions. You may be saying, "But Dr Norm, I am just too busy!"
Well, God does not reward busy or even efforts, He rewards faith that works by love and obedience. Perhaps it's time to focus on what SHOULD be done, not what MUST be done. We tend to get caught up in the tyranny of the urgent. So start to build your life on what's important, not what's urgent.
Prayer may not seem all that important right now, but in the end, it's the most important. Reading and studying God's Word may not seem that important right now, but in light of our destiny, it's very important. As we set our priorities in light of our destiny, we suddenly begin to see what's really important in life.
In Amos 6:1 "Do you rulers in Jerusalem and in the city of Samaria feel safe and at ease. Everyone bows to you, and you think you are better than any other nation. But you are in trouble."
There is danger involved in complacency. In the book of Revelation there is a series of letters to different churches and by the time we get to the seventh Church, Jesus is standing outside knocking, trying to get in and the sad thing is that nobody seems to have missed Him at all.
Revelation 3:15-16 says, "I know your works, you are neither cold not hot, I wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of my mouth."
Jesus is speaking strongly here and we are all living in the last days before He returns again to this earth. We should be listening to and obeying His Word every day. Do not resist His leading because He died to give us the land, we need to go in and possess it all.
So how long are you going to wait before you possess all that God has already given you? How long are you going to wait before you do all He has called you to?
