Knowing God's will is not enough

Posted By at Wednesday, November 06, 2019

In Luke 1:37 we read, 'For with God nothing shall be impossible'.

What a great statement that is!

When the angel came to Mary to tell her about the up-coming birth of Jesus, she questioned and the angel replied, "For with God nothing shall be impossible."

If we just believed that statement, how different our lives would be! From birth we have all been trained to know our limitations. Do you recognise any of these?

You can't have this.

Don't touch that.

Don't put things in your mouth.

You can't touch the fire.

On and on the list goes.

As we grow up, it's actually a sign of maturity to recognize our limitations and learn to live within them. There are limits to everything. It's just a fact of life here on this old earth. But God has no limits. When we enter into the realm of the supernatural, when we become Christians and come into Christ, we take off all the limits in Him.

We have to renew our minds with the truth that God’s life is not like ours. He can do anything. Many of us know God’s will, but it takes more than just knowing it! We have to start and believe it completely.

We have an awesome God whose power is so great that often we can't even comprehend it. He created the universe and it didn't even tax His ability.

Yet many times we find ourselves wondering if our situation is too hard for the Lord.

Let me tell you again, it’s not too hard!

We can't always see how even God can pull us through.

The Lord said in Jeremiah 32:27 "Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?"

The answer is a resounding NO!

The only thing that limits God is our unbelief!

Deut 7:17 If thou shalt say in thine heart, these nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?

Today, let's start to honour God by believing that nothing is too difficult for Him, and see Him work things out for us today!

Speaking in Faith

Posted By at Wednesday, September 25, 2019

Romans 8:31-32 "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not, with him, also freely give us all things?"

In the passage above we see the word 'things' repeated twice; "What shall we then say to these things?" and "...how shall He [God] not with him [Jesus] also freely give us all things."

This scripture is explaining our responsibility in relation to things.

Often in life 'things' can oppose or come against us. The verses following mention 'things' like tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, and sword. What are we to do when these 'things' come against us?

We need to open our mouths and speak to these 'things', because God has given us the authority to do so. When can speak according to God's Word, we must remember, it's not our speaking that brings deliverance; it is God's Word in our mouths.

Some have the idea it is totally their responsibility to bring things into their life. God has given us the responsibility to speak His Word and stand in faith, but ultimately, it's God's responsibility to bring the manifestations.

Sometimes people have the attitude that somehow, with their words or actions, they can pray the answer out of God's hands. However, the verse says if "God didn't spare His own Son, but freely gave Him up for us all, then how shall He not with Him freely give us all things."

God gave us His Son, and through the new birth, He brought us out of darkness and into the light, He brought us out of Satan's kingdom and into His kingdom.

Why then would He want to withhold any good thing from us? Why would He withhold healing, or financial blessing if He gave us His greatest and best gift; His one and only Son, at the new birth?

God did the most for us at salvation. What will He do after salvation?

He can give us more! Only God can give more than the most! The most was salvation, Jesus Christ, the blood of Jesus, forgiveness of sins and taking us out of the kingdom of darkness and bringing us into the kingdom of light.

God is not stingy. In the same way He provided His Son for us, He will provide all we ever need in our lives.

When we begin to explain to God all the works we have done to obtain the promises, we are, in essence, telling God it's His fault we haven't received. If we say, "I've done everything I'm supposed to do, so why isn't it working God?" If we believe God is the problem, we immediately stop His blessings and help, because of our own closed attitude toward His grace.

Romans 8:31-32 is saying, "If God freely gave us Jesus Christ and poured out the greatest blessing at the new birth, then surely He has not forgotten about the food you need on your table, or the finances you need this month!"

Why don't you determine today to have a grateful heart toward God for all He did through the cross?

Begin to speak to the opposition, the 'things' that are holding back. It's not God that is withholding, He has already given. It's satan and his demonic forces that are doing the withholding and opposing. Our God is the Lord of the breakthrough. The minute we get in agreement with His Word, and speak it out of our mouths, standing in our God-given authority, is the minute God can release the healing, or provision and finances we need.

Today, begin to use your God-given authority to speak to the circumstances, (and then don't allow anything negative to be spoken either!), and watch and receive as God freely gives you all these things!

When is the right time?

Posted By at Wednesday, September 18, 2019

Many times in the Word we read NOW, or TODAY, as the time the Lord sees as important. So what are the things God has told us to focus on TODAY?

- To be saved! 2 Cor 6:2 NLT For God says, "At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you." Indeed, the 'right time' is now. Today is the day of salvation!

John 5:25 "Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live."

1 Cor 12:27 Now you are Christ's body, and individually, members of it.

1 Peter 2:10 ..for you once were not a people, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Romans 13:11 And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.

- To accept His righteousness! Romans 4:26 ...So now, because we stand on the faithfulness of Jesus, God declares us righteous on his eyes!

Romans 5:9 For through the blood of Jesus we have heard the powerful declaration, "You are now righteous in my sight."

Romans 5:17 But now, how much more are we held in the grip of grace and continue reigning as kings in life, enjoying our regal freedom through the gift of perfect righteousness in the one and only Jesus, the Messiah!

- To have faith and believe! Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

- To be teachable! Hebrews 4:7 He again fixes a certain day, "Today," saying through David after so long a time just as has been said before, "Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts."

- To praise our Heavenly Father! Isaiah 33:10 "Now I will arise," says the Lord, "Now I will be exalted, now I will be lifted up."

- To worship our Heavenly Father! John 4:23 "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers."

- To live in peace! Romans 15:3 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

2 Thess 3:16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with you all.

- To walk in love! 1 Cor 13:13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Romans 5:5 This hope is not a disappointing fantasy, because we can no experience the endless love of God cascading into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who lives in us!

Romans 8:38 So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God's love.

- To be an encourager! Hebrews 3:13 But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is called "Today," so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

- To live in the Spirit! Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

I'm sure there are some I've missed, why not search more out this week, and add them to the comments below.

God bless.

Faith Can Change Your Life

Posted By at Wednesday, May 01, 2019

Jesus said we could move mountains (obstacles, hindrances) out of our way by using our faith and speaking to them to go.

Mark 11:22-23 Living Bible In reply Jesus said to the disciples, “If you only have faith in God—this is the absolute truth—you can say to this Mount of Olives, ‘Rise up and fall into the Mediterranean,’ and your command will be obeyed. All that’s required is that you really believe and have no doubt!"

We can speak things into existence in our life like Father God does. In Genesis, at the creation, God said and it was so:

Genesis 1:3 And God said

Genesis 1:6 And God said

Genesis 1:9 And God said

Genesis 1:11 And God said

Genesis 1:14 And God said

Genesis 1:20 And God said

Genesis 1:24 And God said

Genesis 1:26 And God said

Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

Paul then says in Romans 4:17 He (God) calls those things which do not exist as though they did.

Because words created this natural realm (the earth and everything in it including the materials that make-up our bodies), everything in this natural realm responds to spoken words. Things will respond to your faith filled words.

Jesus said in Luke 17:6 “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, be pulled up by the roots and be planted into the sea and it would obey you.”

God gives each of us, as New Creation beings, the ability to change our circumstances by speaking to them in faith and expecting a supernatural result, just like God said we could have, but it's according to OUR faith.

Faith Hope Love

Posted By at Wednesday, April 24, 2019

1 Corinthians 13:13 "And now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these [is] love."

Faith and hope and love [that is God's kind of love 'agape love'] are all Godly attributes.

Satan possesses none of these and hates everyone who does possess them.

I wonder as you go through this year of 2019 are these the qualities you possess?

God is the God of faith, the God of all hope and God is love. These are His characteristics.

Those who genuinely possess these qualities are God possessed for these only come from and through the Lord God Himself.

Galatians 5:6 says Faith works by love.

Yet many Christians who profess faith certainly do not exude this love. They act often like they have no love. How can this be?

Many people in today's church even lack these Godly qualities, but they have existed since God breathed His life into man and they will be here as long as He continues to live in men's hearts. They abide regardless of political systems.

Men however, under the direction of the devil, have tried to eradicate them, but their efforts have fallen short and always will.

  • Love never fails according to 1 Corinthians 13:8
  • Faith overcomes the world according to 1 John 5:4
  • Hope we are saved by it according to Romans 8:24

These are the qualities that give our lives meaning and great enjoyment.

These characteristics distinguish men from animals. Remove them, and people begin to act like wild animals.

However, if we inject faith, hope, and love even into the vilest heart, then it can be melted and reshaped in the image of God. Living without faith, hope, and love diminishes the quality of life.

Satan seeks to strip men and women of these three God-like qualities, while God never wants us to be without them. There is constant warfare between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness over these three special virtues.

Today, let God fill you with an even greater measure of His faith, His hope and His love and then be a bigger channel through which He can release these virtues to those who need faith; those who need hope and those who are starving for true agape love.

This year make a determined effort to be all that God has already planned for you!

Faith Connects With God

Posted By at Wednesday, April 17, 2019

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

To receive salvation, the only thing required of us was faith. God did all the work for us, and we get all the benefits. Our part is the faith to believe.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

We were saved by grace. Grace is unmerited favor. We didn’t do anything to deserve salvation, but He gave it to us anyway because He loved us. Even the faith which we use to connect to Him is a gift from Him.

Salvation is the benefit package that contains everything that Jesus has so generously provided for us through His death and resurrection.

The method through which we initially received salvation is the same method we use to receive everything that has been provided for us in salvation.

How exactly, were you saved?

Romans 10:8-10 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Two things are required for us to be born again: the heart and mouth connection.

  1. Confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ.
  2. Believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead.

If you take these two steps, then I believe you are saved!

Our Faith Can Change Our Destiny

Posted By at Wednesday, April 03, 2019

Thousands of people, who once lived without hope, have discovered the promises of God’s Word, have believed and have produced faith in their heart and then acted on them. As a result, their lives have been transformed. One such man who lived in Old Testament times was named Jabez. This man’s name means 'sorrow, pain, and trouble.' Every time his name was called, it cried out to him, “Pain! Trouble! Sorrow'! Jabez was probably convinced that he would be confined to weakness, pain and sickness all the days of his life.

But one day he heard about the God of Israel and how God was a covenant keeping, wonder working, all powerful God.

The scripture says in 1 Chron 4:9-10 And Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, "Because I bare him with sorrow." And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, "Oh that thou wouldst bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldst keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me!" And God granted him that which he requested.

Jabez changed his destiny the day he began calling upon God. Progress in the kingdom of God or any other area doesn’t happen accidently.

Jabez asked the Lord to bless him and enlarge his coast. The scripture says that God answered his prayer. Dennis Burke said that we can create abundance from God in our futures if we are willing to make changes today.

Here are some things we must do if we want to receive God’s blessings in our life.

  1.  Put God first in our life. God is not opposed to us having things, but God will not tolerate things becoming more important to us than Him. The scripture says in Matt 6:33 “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.”
  2.  Let go of traditions. Someone said, “Every Sunday people carry into church something that is more powerful in their lives than God’s Word. It is their traditions.” But Jesus said in Mark 7:13 “Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition."
  3.  Let go of all reasons for lack. There are always reasons why God’s people are not living in the blessings of God. Proverbs 26:2 says “The curse causeless shall not come.” There are reasons why people do not walk in the promise of abundance and blessing. These include such things as lack of knowledge, failure to give, disobedience, laziness and being unteachable. They will stop the flow of God’s blessings.
  4. Expect to receive a harvest. Jesus told His disciples to expect to receive when they give. In fact, what they received would be greater than what they gave. In Luke 6:38 Jesus said, “Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.” Just like Jesus told His disciples to expect a return when they gave, He tells us through His Word, that we should do the same.

And like Jabez discovered, our lives should be more than struggling and labouring to just get by. We are not born again to strive but to thrive and increase in every area.

God wants us to be blessed so that we can be a blessing.

Faith Gets God's Attention

Posted By at Wednesday, March 27, 2019

Luke 8:43-48 A woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. "Who touched me?" Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, "Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you." But Jesus said,

"Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.’ Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and…told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace."

I want you to notice three important things in this story:

  1.  She did something she’d never done before. She decided to try Jesus. That’s a wise move! Faith means stepping into the unknown and the untried, finding God’s grace at work in unexpected ways. Medical science had failed her and cost her everything she had. She heard about this itinerant preacher who was doing miracles, it was her last chance.
  2. She recognized her moment. She knew that Jesus was visiting her town, and might not be back. There are some God-moments in life when we’ve got to overcome our fear and move out in faith. If we don’t, we’ll miss the opportunity and it may not come our way again.
  3. She also opened the door for others. Up until this time, no one in Scripture had been healed by touching Jesus’ garment. So her act of faith opened the door for others; she led the way to receive from Jesus that others had not even contemplated.

Matthew 14:35-36 People brought all their sick to him and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed.

God’s looking for people who are willing to break with their religious traditions. When He finds them, He uses them to open doors and new dimensions of His power, so that others might be blessed and made whole.

Faith Makes His Promises Reality

Posted By at Wednesday, March 13, 2019

What is the purpose of faith? Faith is God’s chosen method to get His salvation and His blessings to us in a controlled and legal way. Now, there is more to that statement than I can cover in this one article, but here is one thought – We have the promises so that we might be partakers of God’s salvation, His character, and His blessings. The purpose of Salvation and the purpose of faith is to turn God's promises into reality in our lives.

2 Peter 1:2-5 Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. Through these, He has given us His precious and magnificent promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, now that you have escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge.

By faith and believing in God's Word we access God and everything God has. John 3:16 talks about God loving the whole world, but it goes on to say that only believers would share in His eternal life will be spared from judgement. That eternal life, by the way, starts now and not when we die.

Through faith we can share in His eternal life, eternal salvation, and eternal will – now in this life, and of course, in the life to come. Through faith we can live in the benefits of His eternal Kingdom. That is why the Lord’s model prayer states in Matt 6:10 “Your will be done on earth as it (already) is in Heaven."

Again, one of the main purposes of the Bible is to turn the promises of God into our earthly realities. The promises are already spiritual realities in Heaven. The purpose of prayer is to make ‘the will be done as it is (already) in Heaven', and the purpose of believing is to get our prayers answered.

So, what is the purpose of the Bible? Is it to show us all the things we’re doing wrong? Is it to show us what we will have only in the next life? Or is it merely religious literature? "No!" to all these things.

The purpose of the Bible is the turn God’s will in heaven into God’s will here in the earth. The purpose of the Bible is to turn the spiritual realities of His promises into physical realities in our every day lives so through us the world will be reached with the gospel. God can do that when we believe His promises. The Word is real and He is real.

These Three - Faith Hope Love!

Posted By at Wednesday, November 14, 2018
