Pray in the Spirit to Make the Right Decisions

Posted By at Wednesday, April 26, 2017

As human beings, we can always relate to the past because of our past experiences and memories but we relate to the present through our five senses. The future is purposely concealed from us and reminds us of how dependent upon the Lord we really are for everything.

Deut 29:29 The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

The occult world abounds with soothsayers, psychics, fortune-tellers and all kinds of prognosticators who specialize in predicting future events. Even though we can't foretell the future the Lord has promised us help.

When Jesus left planet Earth and ascended back to His Father, He left a promise that He would send us a comforter, a guide and a helper named the Holy Spirit. We can't see future events with our natural vision, but the indwelling Holy Spirit gives us insight into future events and our spiritual discernment gives us the wisdom we need to make the right future decisions.

John 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.

If you're in a quandary, not knowing what is expected of you in any situation you have a helper; The Holy Spirit who dwells within you. You can pray and tap into His guidance to make the right choices and take the steps that are in line with God's will for your future.

You are not ever alone. Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit so we would be comforted and so we could know The Truth and make good decisions for our future. Everywhere we look right now, difficult situations abound. Knowing which is the right direction to take when faced with a decision can seem overwhelming.

Learn to take some time to pray in the Spirit.

Eph 6:18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

The Holy Spirit will help you know the right path to take. He can and will reveal to you all God has prepared for you as you need it.

Be Careful What You Say

Psalm 45:1 My heart is overflowing with a good matter. I speak of the things which I have made touching the king, my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

In this passage of scripture King David is experiencing a revelation through the Holy Spirit. It's bubbling on the inside of him and he really just has to tell someone. Therefore, his tongue is compared to the pen that is ready to write or compose the revelation he received, releasing to future generations 'a good matter;' the prophecy about Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

Jesus tells us in Matt 12:34 That from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

David is so full of this 'good matter' he declares Jesus is fair, righteous, full of grace, etc [found in all the following verses of Psalm 45].

The Lord IS good and when you fill your heart with His goodness, your mouth will speak of treasures from the past, for the present and also for the future. You will be writing and composing the 'good matter' the Lord has for you and generations to come.

The Lord is a never changing 'good matter.' Receive the goodness of The Lord and your tongue will also be the pen of a ready writer.

1 Peter 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God. If any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever.

Job 6:25 "How forceful are right words!"

The words we all speak have power, they are more powerful than most people realize. The words we say can put a smile on someone's face or bring tears to the eyes of another.

We can encourage one another with the words we speak or we can crush the hopes and dreams of the ones we love by not watching what we say.

Our words are more powerful than we give them credit.

Through my years of studying the word of God I have come to see that words are a creative force! We have been made in the image and likeness of our Father God.

Now there are some that have misused the teaching of speaking right words and have gone to an extreme, which in turn has turned a lot of Christians away from teachings on faith and positively speaking God's Word.

Speaking faith filled words is God’s way to bring things into existence. And since we are created in His very own IMAGE. So just as a child IMITATES his parents, so should we as God's children IMITATE our Heavenly Father, who created us in His IMAGE and LIKENESS.

Start to get creative in our speaking! We should be speaking provision and healing and reconciliation and the positive things of Gods Word, not sounding off with the devil's negatives.

It's Not About a Bunny But The Lamb!

Posted By at Wednesday, April 12, 2017

It's just a few days to Easter again this year and the shops are filled with chocolate eggs and bunnies; all there to tempt the children. Again there is very little said in the community about Jesus and the real reason for this Easter season.

I can remember as a child in Ireland, the culture that was created around Easter was about bunnies and eggs. We collected flowers from a certain wild bush to colour the hard-boiled eggs yellow and then paint them with designs or faces. Then we all went to a hill outside the village and rolled the eggs down the hill to see whose egg did not get broken. We then ate the hard-boiled eggs at a picnic.

I never knew and had never been told this tradition of rolling the egg down the hill was symbolic of the stone being rolled away from the tomb of Jesus. Through the years the Spiritual aspect had been forgotten and taken over by the fun and the picnic and the Easter bunny. It's much more commercial in today's culture.

Many Christians still embrace the egg hunting and the Easter bunny thing while we personally feel that the added chocolate and egg hunting takes attention off the real reason for Easter.

We believe that people, especially children, need to be taught truth. It is only the Truth that sets people free as John 8 tells us.

Look at Paul in Acts 17:16-33 NKJ 16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols. 17 Therefore he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with the Gentile worshipers and in the marketplace daily with those who happened to be there. 18 Then certain Epicurean and Stoic philosophers encountered him. And some said, "What does this babbler want to say?"

Others said, "He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods," because he preached to them Jesus and the resurrection.

19 And they took him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, “May we know what this new doctrine is of which you speak? 20 For you are bringing some strange things to our ears. Therefore we want to know what these things mean.” 21 For all the Athenians and the foreigners who were there spent their time in nothing else but either to tell or to hear some new thing.

22 Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; 23 for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD.

Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you: 24 “God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. 25 Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath and all things. 26 And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ 29 Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising. 30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”

32 And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, “We will hear you again on this matter.” 33 So Paul departed from among them. 34 However, some men joined him and believed, among them Dionysius the Areopagite, a woman named Damaris, and others with them..

At Family Faith Centre we are currently seeing new people on Sunday mornings because we continue to preach the Good Word of God. One man on his second visit received Christ last Sunday morning when I taught about Elijah and Elisha and passing the baton and anointing.

What about your church; what will they do for Easter?

What will be the result?

I will be teaching Christ; the Lamb of God and Him crucified and resurrected this Easter. I won't be talking about bunnies.

His Blood Was Necessary!

Posted By at Wednesday, April 05, 2017

Hebrews 9:22 In fact, according to the law of Moses, nearly everything was purified with blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.

IN THE OLD TESTAMENT: THE BLOOD OF ANIMALS

When we turn back to the Old Testament of the Bible, we see that after sin entered into the world, God required the blood of animals for the atonement of the sins that men committed.

Leviticus 16:29 ...in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you.

Leviticus 16:30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD.

2 Chronicles 29:24 And the priests killed them [he goats], and they made reconciliation with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel: for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.

Leviticus 16:15 Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat.

Leviticus 16:16 And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.

Hebrews 10:4 ...it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

Consequently, the Levitical priesthood had to keep offering sacrifices, not just for the sins of the people but for their own sins, too. They had to sacrifice over and over again, year in and year out. A better sacrifice was needed.

About 600 years before the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, God told his people, the children of Israel, that he was going to make a new covenant with them.

Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah.

Jeremiah 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, "Knowthe LORD," for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD.  For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

The shedding of the blood of animals under the Old Testament was a picture of what our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ would do in the New Testament.

THE NEW TESTAMENT: THE BLOOD OF JESUS, THE MEDIATOR OF THE NEW TESTAMENT

The old tabernacle had to be sanctified by the sprinkling of blood, nothing could be considered as purified without the mark of shed blood. So it is in our spiritual life, it is the shed blood of Jesus that brings about the forgiveness of our sins.

I was thinking about the film Titanic, and remembering that the vessel had been built in Belfast, I wondered why it's sinking was such a disaster. As I thought about it I realized the reason was there was not enough lifeboats to evacuate all those on board. The 20 lifeboats that Titanic did carry could only accommodate a few hundred, despite the fact that there were 2,224 on board. If everyone had insisted on getting into the lifeboats they would have sunk anyway because of the overcrowding and no one would have survived. Many gave up their lives so others could live.

That brings the question: Would you choose death so someone else could live?

Jesus chose death so you and I could be saved, He was in a way our lifeboat. He shed His blood at Calvary so anyone who believes can be released from the penalty of their sins.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

All you have to do is ask for forgiveness and accept it and live your life for Him.
