In Christ You Are the Unbeatable

Posted By at Wednesday, March 26, 2014

In the song THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM, the first few lines say;

To fight the UNBEATABLE foe

To bear with unbearable sorrow

To run where the brave dare not go.

To reach the unreachable star!

This is my quest

To follow that star

No matter how hopeless

No matter how far

Do you really know that your old enemy, the devil has already been defeated so that makes you UNBEATABLE when you are IN the One who beat and mastered him, that is, when you are in Christ!

The Dictionary meaning for UNBEATABLE says: Impossible to defeat or surpass; incapable of being beaten; or outclassed; surpassingly excellent; impossible to defeat.

That's the UNBEATABLE YOU the dictionary is talking about, when you are in Christ.

Someone once said, "Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful."

Some of you may remember when you were a child and had treasure hunts (back in Ireland we used to do this as Easter Egg hunts). You would run around the house and when you got close to the hidden egg, someone would shout to you, “getting warmer” “getting hotter”  "you’re on fire” “you’re really sizzling now” and then as you move away from the spot they'd let you know, “you’re getting colder” “you’re cold” “you’re freezing”.

Sometimes life seems to feel a bit like that too.  Some days you’re on track, you’re making progress getting really hot and it feels like you have really accomplished something.

Then, there are other days when you just experience the colder side of life, that just seems to be like a waste of space.  Some days you look back on and think "What did I do all day? I really accomplished nothing today!"

Your life right now at this moment in time, is the product of all your choices so far in life since you were born again.

You Can Trust God

Numbers 23:19 God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Joshua 21:45 Not a word failed of any good thing that the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.

God always keeps His promises. This is one thing you can be sure of. It's the first principle of your faith: If the Lord says He is going to do something, then you can stake your life on the fact that He will do it.

It is crucial for you to understand this if you want to grow in an intimate relationship with God and walk in the very center of His will.

In Matthew 16:15-16, Jesus asked the disciples, "Who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter responded, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

To this, Jesus said in verses 17 & 18, Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it."

Jesus did not mean that the church would be based on Peter; rather, it is founded on the Revelation that Jesus Christ is God’s Son and the Messiah. Jesus did, however, intend to use Peter and the other apostles in His work to spread the gospel.

You can trust God when He says He wants to bless you and bring you to all the fullness of Jesus.

The Call of God

Posted By at Wednesday, March 12, 2014

A number of years ago a little book came out entitled GOD CALLING and I recommend you stay away from it. Two listeners were practicing automatic writing; when they supposedly received direct messages from the 'voice divine' and wrote God Calling. Even though Scripture abounds in the book and just because a book contains Scripture passages doesn’t make it a good Christian book. After all, the use of Scripture to fool Christians is one of the devil’s oldest tricks – he tried to use it on Christ Himself in Matthew 4!

The publisher of God Calling A.J. Russell is reported to be a medium. His method involved sitting down with paper and pencil, letting the mind go blank, then writing down anything that flashes across it, which he says should be considered akin to God’s orders for the day.

This is precisely what the two listeners did. “We sat down, pencils and paper in hand and waited…. My results were entirely negative…. But with my friend a very wonderful thing happened. From the first, beautiful messages were given to her by our Lord Himself, and every day from then these messages have never failed us.”

After they had a collection of these messages, they sent them to A. J. Russell who immediately got to work preparing them for publication in the book now known as God Calling.  It’s been a bestseller ever since.

Unfortunately, many dear Christians have been deceived by this book and similar books that purport to be from a Christian perspective. I challenged a local Christian bookstore several years ago about it and they refused to remove it from their shelves because it was one of their best sellers to local church people. But God's Word says: -

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

Isa 5:13 Therefore my people have gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge; their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

Many of God's people who love Him sincerely are being destroyed and being held captive to sickness or poverty and other problems because of a lack of knowledge.

So how can we know when God is calling us?

It was God's love for you and me that motivated Him to send His Son Jesus to redeem us all from these destructions. That same love has been poured out into the heart of every believer.

Romans 5:5
Now hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

God’s love in us calls and compels us to do something about the plight of lost and hurting people.  As Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ compels us.

Over the last couple of years each morning, about 9am, when I was out in my office studying God's Word, I would hear what seemed to be a very faint chime ringing.  Several times I looked around to try and find the origin of the sound, but it always stopped before I could discover it.
Finally, one morning recently, I found out what it was.  It was a little dashboard clock I had bought to put in my car, but I had tucked away on a bookshelf behind some books, when I changed my car and never actually used the clock.  Every morning the alarm would go off at the same time about 9am.

God’s call of love in your heart can be like that.  Sounding regularly but seldom ever really heard.  Buried under personal ambitions, cares and problems, daily routines and the general busyness of life. But it is unmistakably there! The same love that moved Jesus to heal the sick and minister God’s life to broken people is in you today if you are born again!  So listen to it.  It compels you to love for His sake not yours or the other persons. Get in touch with it and express it to someone in need. God wants to use you to touch others with His love.

Are you listening when His call comes like that gentle chime?

You Are Complete in Christ

Posted By at Wednesday, March 05, 2014

Colossians 2:10 and you are complete in Him. Who is the Head of all principality and power!

Recognising that you are complete in Christ is a great safeguard against all the deceits of the devil. But before we were born again we really were incomplete and constantly striving to satisfy the hunger of all our needs. But through God's masterstroke of the New Birth, we are now complete in Christ and our hunger should only be for more revelation of what we already have in Christ. When we are totally satisfied in our relationship with Father God through Christ, that disarms all the devil's lies to us. The biggest part of all temptation is always being dissatisfied with what we already have.

Adam and Eve would not have eaten the forbidden fruit if they hadn't been led to believe they were dissatisfied with what they already had. They were already more like God before they ate the fruit than after eating it. Their dissatisfaction was the preliminary step to their action of sinning against God their Father and Creator.

The Apostle Paul says the devil will try to tempt us the same way he tempted and deceived Adam and Eve.

2 Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid that your minds will be led away from your true and pure following of Christ just as Eve was tricked by the snake and his evil ways.

If anyone ever tries to tell you Christ is not enough, or that you need something more, then that's the devil trying to turn you away from your completeness in Christ. In the same way Jesus had the fullness of God The Father in Him, we have the fullness of God in us. John 1:16 says Of His fullness have we all received and grace upon grace.

That makes us complete or perfect in Christ - in our spirit man. It is our born again spirit that is the Spirit of Christ.

Romans 8:9 But you are not in the flesh, but in the spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

God's Spirit has been sent into our hearts [spirits] to make us His children.

Galatians 4:6 And because you are sons, God sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts crying 'Abba Father'.

You are as much a child of God as it is possible to be, because you are complete in Christ and you are a JOINT HEIR with Him.

Isn't that all good news!
