Is it Right?

Posted By at Wednesday, February 27, 2013

George Washington said, "Few men have enough virtue to withstand the highest bidder."

Yet that's what we must do to develop the kind of character that will sustain us.

It's not easy to do the right thing when:

(a) It will cost you

(b) The wrong thing is more practical

(c) No one but you will know

It's in those moments that your character becomes strong.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "Cowardice asks: Is it safe? Consensus asks: Is it popular? Conscience [character] asks: Is it right?"

Learn to Pray with Power!

Posted By at Wednesday, February 20, 2013

This past week I received a newsletter from another ministry and it said in part, "Are you aware of what is going on around the world and of the great persecution of Christians.  In 2011 - 64 countries were killing Christians and in 2012 - 130 countries were killing Christians.  Now we have just begun in 2013 and it has already increased.

We need to pray with great boldness, holding back nothing in prayer for our lives, others and the nations.  It is the fervent prayer of a righteous man or woman (one who stands with sins forgiven) that reaches the throne of our Father, for it is He who rules over all creation with His majesty and His power."

If all the prayers of concerned Christians around the world were answered and if all the desires, requests and goals expressed throughout churches on this past weekend were to be implemented, it would radically change the nations of this world. Wars would be ended, ethnic hatreds tamed, politicians become honest, ecological restoration begun, global warming and AIDS halted, poverty reduced, etc. Ministers would become honest and open to the people.

God is the God who answers prayer, but many of God's people do not know how to pray effectively. It's not God who is not answering but we who are not praying according to His instructions. As believers we have a need to pray and intercede for our brothers and our sisters in many other countries where their freedom is not so liberal as ours is here in the west.

We need to pray because prayers are powerful when based on God's written Word!

Prayer is such a powerful force that can change Governments, circumstances, situations, and the things that are against you can be changed!  God shapes the world by His Word in response to our prayer.

In Psalm 119.89 Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.

In Matthew 6.9-10 When Jesus gave instruction on how to pray He said; In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

He is saying that God wants us here to have His will settled in earth, in our hearts, the same as it is already settled in heaven, where there is no discussion and no debate about it.

Jeremiah 32.17 ‘Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.

Jeremiah 32.27 “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?

Jeremiah 33:3, "Call unto me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things."

Ephesians 3:20, "Now glory be to God who by His mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of - infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts or hopes."

And we are sure of this; that He will listen to us whenever we ask Him for anything in line with His will, which is His Word. And if we really know He is listening when we talk to Him and make our requests, then, we can be sure He will answer.

He says in 1 John 5.13-15 Amplified Bible 13 I write this to you who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) the name of the Son of God [in the peculiar services and blessings conferred by Him on men], so that you may know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that you [already] have life, yes, eternal life.

14 And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us.

15 And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him.

Have a wonderful week praying and believing for those who are being persecuted around the world.

God's Grace

Posted By at Wednesday, February 13, 2013

The word 'grace' is so important that Paul mentions it three times more than any other writer in the New Testament. Remembering the violent life he lived, he says in Eph 3.8 Although I am less than the least of all God's people, this grace was given me: to preach… the unsearchable riches of Christ.

The word 'grace' comes from the Greek word charis that means among many other things 'pure joy'. Although you didn't deserve it, God considered saving you a 'pure joy'.

In John, chapter eight, a woman is caught in the act of adultery. The law is unmistakable about her punishment. The Pharisees are ready to stone her. She knows that Jesus, being righteous, must agree. She has no lawyer to defend her, not even a character witness!

Suddenly Jesus stoops and begins to write in the sand. Some scholars have suggested that perhaps He wrote down their sins, times and places, even the names of their illicit partners etc.

When He looks up, her accusers are gone. He says, in John 8.11 Neither do I condemn you… Go now and leave your life of sin.

Jesus lifted her from a position of undeniable guilt to one of unconditional pardon. She didn't deserve it, and didn't know it was possible.

And that's our story too, it's almost too good to be true, sounds like a fairy tale but it's the truth that sets you FREE!

Give the devil No Place

Posted By at Wednesday, February 06, 2013

Jeremiah 29.11 I know the plans I have for you says The Lord, plans for good and not for evil.

The devil also has a plan and he is an intruder; he has no right, no place in your life.

He is a deceiver, will try and pick you out, get you alone and then attack. Let's not get spiritually slow or weak; stay fired up, and fuel up and in the Word of God.

The enemy is looking for an opportune moment where he can sift you out.

Everyone can get comfortable but whenever or wherever you are in the plan, don't stop pushing forward! Continue to press on, even when its good, rise up and press on!

The enemy wants to get you in apathy, half-heartedness so that you give up on the plan. Satan has been defeated but still fights to get you to give up. Don't give in to his tactics.

If you stop enforcing or growing in the Word of God then you are leaving a foothold for the enemy.

Ephesians 4:27 AMP "Leave no [such] room or foothold for the devil [give no opportunity to him]."

Jesus said in John 8.44 The devil is a liar and there is no truth in him at all so don't believe him.

You can win if you don't give in.
