Don't Let Your Yesterday Steal Your Today

Posted By at Wednesday, February 29, 2012

I read this quote this morning & it made me think.  'Living in the past is a dull and lonely business; looking back strains the neck muscles, causing you to bump into people not going your way.'

Never let yesterday steal your today

Yesterday ended last night.  So for today it is more valuable to look ahead and prepare than to look back and cry over spilt milk.  Regret looks back. Worry looks around.  But faith looks up.

Life can be understood backwards but it needs to be lived forwards.  If past history were all that mattered, librarians would be the only successful people in the world.  The past should only be viewed with gratitude for the good things God has done.

So look backward with gratitude and forward with confidence. The past is the beginning of your fresh start.  Experience is at best yesterday's answer to today's problem.  God doesn't consult your past to determine your future.

Isaiah 43:18-19 'Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing;now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.'

This is an interesting scripture to read in light of being a New Creation if you care to spend some time & study it for yourself.

If you are still talking about what you did yesterday, you haven't done much today.  Tomorrow is often the busiest day of the week.

Be Blessed!

Dealing With Opposition from the Enemy

Posted By at Wednesday, February 22, 2012

When you are facing strong opposition and impossible needs or troubles who or what are you looking to or trusting for help?

If you are looking to your own resources or man’s wisdom and power then you are limited by the natural powers of this world.

The Lord Jesus in His Word has given you the power to call upon Him in each and desire and every need you will ever face on this earth!

Romans 8:32 God says through Paul, He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

The Lord Jesus Christ is always at the right hand of God watching over you with constant prayers and intercession on your behalf!

For His power to be released on your behalf you must acknowledge Him by calling out to Him. When you acknowledge Him through prayer and calling out to Him you give Him the legal right to intervene in your life. When you acknowledge Him you are also declaring to all of creation who your Lord really is and where you have put your trust.
God will not share His Glory with the powers of this world or man’s pride or the self-seeking people. When you acknowledge Him you are giving Him all the glory for what He has promised to do for you.

The enemy has already been totally defeated at Calvary so he can only try to confound or confuse you by getting your attention off God’s Word and unto the circumstances.

Rom 8.34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Psalm 34:17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

John 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

Expectancy is the Key to Faith

Posted By at Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Do you realise that God desires the very best for you?

Romans 8.32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

The Lord Jesus Christ paid the price for us to receive the blessings and gifts of God.  He has provided so many marvellous blessings for us and they are available to all who will partake of the miracle power and healing promises of the Word of God.

Our expectancy is a key that can either increase or limit the power of God in our lives.  The more we understand and meditate on the Word of God the greater our expectancy grows.  We serve a wonderful God of love and compassion and His desire is for all of his children to abide and walk according to Ephesians 1:19: and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.

John 15:7-9 Jesus said, If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.  By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.  As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.

Are you ready to receive today? Just get your expectancy working it is a key to help you receive all that God has for you.

Do You Really Know Who You are?

Posted By at Wednesday, February 08, 2012

I read about a boy climbing in the mountains near his father’s farm one day; and he found an eagle's nest with an egg in it. He took the egg and when he got home he put it under a hen along with her other eggs. When the eagle hatched it thought it was a chicken. It learned chicken behaviour and scratched in the chicken yard with its chicken 'siblings'. It didn't know any better. Sometimes it felt strange stirrings within itself but it didn't know what to do with them, so it ignored or suppressed them. After all, if it was a chicken it should behave like a chicken. One day an eagle flew over the chicken yard and the eagle looked up and saw the great bird. In that moment it realised it wanted to be like that eagle, to fly high, to go to the mountain peaks it saw in the distance. As it spread his wings it suddenly understood that it really was like that eagle. Though it had never flown before, it did have the instinct and capabilities. At first it flew unsteadily, then with greater power and control. Finally as it soared it knew it had discovered its true self - the creature God made it to be.

Someone has said When you discover you have been leading only half a life, the other half is going to haunt you until you develop it.

Self-discovery is what Paul had in mind when he wrote in Eph 1.11-12 The Message Bible It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for.

You were made by God and for God. Until you understand that, your life won't really make much sense. Too many Christians are still living life without any real victory because they have not discovered their true identity in Christ.

It's only in Christ that we discover our purpose, our significance and our destiny. In other words, we discover our true selves!

God Gives the Ability to Continue

Posted By at Wednesday, February 01, 2012

There is a truth about Christian living that if people only knew it, would make all of life easier for them.

The truth is this: Whatever trial or task comes our way in life, we will receive the ability we need to face it. He is always adequate, He is always sufficient, and He is always more than enough.

There are several promises that give this assurance.

Deut 33:25 Your shoes will be as iron and brass and as your days so shall your strength be.

This means that the help that God gives you varies according to the tasks and trials of the particular day. God fits His blessing to your days.

Isa 40:29 When you are weak, He increases your strength.

2 Cor. 1:3-6 When you are sorrowful, He gives comfort.

Ps 32:7 When you are in danger, He grants protection.

Matt 11:28 When you are weary, He gives rest.

2 Cor. 12.9 My grace is sufficient for you.

No matter what you are facing right now, the loss of a loved one, a financial crisis, a sickness or whatever it may be, God has the answer and sufficient grace for you today.

The word sufficient is a word whose meaning expands and amplifies with the measure of the need. No need is so small that it can’t be included; and none is so great that it can go beyond the capacity of the blessing that is promised.

God has a plan and an assignment for each of His children, the enemy will try to get us a way from that assignment by various means but don’t allow him to take you away from it. No matter what he throws at you or your family, God gives the ability to carry on to see it completed.
